The ever-increasing amount of time spent traveling has enhanced interest in the study and understanding of the Value of Travel Time (VTT). VTT not only relates to the duration or cost of travel, but also to how user behavior, needs and expectations affect the development of transportation networks. Indeed, urban planners, engineers, and economists consider VTT data essential for the design and/or improvement of gender-sensitive and inclusive mobility services and transport infrastructure.
Almost all activities of daily life, including travel, are defined by the use of smart devices that generate large volumes of valuable user data. This user-generated digital trace data may then be exploited through computational methods and data analysis techniques to better understand the behavior, needs and expectations of transportation system users.
About the workshop
In this context, The MoTiV Project (https://motivproject.eu) partner Eurecat is organizing a workshop titled “The power of Data Analytics in assessing Value of Time for Mobility and Transport Planning: uncovering users’ mobility behaviour” held in Barcelona, Spain, on September 18th, 2019. The workshop will provide a comprehensive analysis of user preferences, behaviours and needs, and highlight the main factors that influence user choice, the time spent on preparation and actual travel, and the value proposition of travel time.
The workshop will be divided into two sessions. The morning session will feature several topics (e.g., VTT, transport user experience) addressed through one keynote presentation and two panel discussions. The afternoon session will focus on a more hands-on session on a tutorial on Data Analysis of Mobility Data.
