Advisory board
The MoTiV Project Advisory Board comprises a panel of independent experts with a recognised reputation in scientific and technical areas relevant to the project. The Advisory Board will closely follow the project developments and provide advice to maximize the impact of the project results at international level, as well as to integrate interdisciplinary insights and knowledge on international socio-economic trends.
Dr. Floridea di Ciommo, Spain
Co-founder of cambiaMO Cooperative Society
Dr. di Ciommo leaded and participated in research activities related to the impacts of ITS on travel behaviour patterns. In a broad perspective, her research plans are related to the study of transport behavior and its relationship with technological innovations and socio-economic evaluation impacts, following the main lines of research she has pursued during her recent years of work.
Dr. Kate Pangbourne, UK
University Academic Fellow, University of Leeds/Institute for Transport Studies
Dr. Pangbourne’s background is varied and highly interdisciplinary, encompassing environmental sustainability, transport geography, rural development, technology and Human Computer Interaction, as well as some political and social science and philosophy. Her main research interests relate to addressing complex real-world problems of ‘Triple Pillar’ sustainability through changing individual attitudes, habits, behaviours and practices and the governance of sustainability and transport.
Prof. Gerd-Axel Ahrens, Germany
Emeritus Professor of transport planning at the Technical University Dresden
Prof. Ahrens is an experienced (urban) analyst, researcher and practitioner in transport planning, management and administration. Member of numerous scientific institutions and boards, e. g. “Scientific Advisory Council of the German Federal Minister of Transport”, “Scientific Advisory Board for the Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (VVO), the public transport umbrella organisation of the region around Dresden, chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board for the elaboration of the Dresden Transport Master Plan 2025+.

Dr. Leihs is an expert in Intelligent Transportation Systems who played several roles in industrial technology, academia, education & research as well as public administration and the institutional environment. His activities focus on Urban transport, the mitigation of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, creating and distributing traffic information.
Dr. Soňa Ftáčniková, Slovakia
National Contact Point at the Slovak Scientific and Technical Information Centre (CVTI SR)
Role in MoTiV Advisory Board: Ethics Adviser
Dr. Soňa Ftáčniková is the head of bi- and multilateral international collaboration in SRDA; the National Contact for the European Science Foundation, Strasbourg; Slovak representative in European Network on Research Integrity (ENRIO); the National Contact Point for ERC grants – Excellent Science in H2020 and the National Contact Point for Ethics in H2020.
She is author of 9 publications on the theme of Ethics, including Fostering Research Integrity in Europe: Executive Report by ESF Member Organization Forum on Research Integrity, 2010 and Ethics in H2020 (in SK), 2014.
Dr. Birgitta Gatersleben, UK
Reader in Environmental Psychology, University of Surrey
Dr. Gatersleben is director of the Environmental Psychology Research Centre, Section lead of the Social and Environmental Psychology Section and Programme manager of the Environmental Psychology MSc.
Her research focuses on people-environment interactions and she has a particular interest in understanding sustainable consumption, sustainable transport choices and people’s relationship with their natural environment.
Dr. Imre Keseru, Belgium
Postdoctoral researcher and team leader for urban mobility at MOBI – Mobility, Logistics and Automotive Technology Research Center
Dr. Imre Keseru is a transport planner and geographer with a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Szeged in Hungary. He managed the development of the NISTO evaluation toolkit for small-scale mobility projects, one of MOBI’s expert tools. Currently, he is working on the FLAMENCO (Flanders Mobile Enacted Citizen Observatories) project and is also involved in the Mobility4EU project funded by Horizon2020. His other research interests include travel-based multitasking, the impact of pedestrianisation and mobility management.
Dr. Mark van Hagen, The Netherlands

Role in MoTiV Advisory Board: Innovation Manager
Dr. van Hagen has been heavily involved in public transport in the last twenty four years for the Netherlands Railways. He is responsible for studies on customer demands, chain management and station development. He also analyses customer data and advises the management of NS. The core of his activities is on policy making and policy evaluation.
Externally he shares his expertise with over 90 published articles, interviews with specialist journals and presentations at (international) congresses and seminars.
